With the arrival of the S. S Ocean Dream, and six new vessels using the Port of Santo Domingo, Sans Soucí Ports formally inaugurated its 2013-2014 cruise season, which hopes to double the amount of cruise tourists visiting the capital city.
Among the vessels debuting at the Port of Santo Domingo are: Ocean Dream, Aida Bella, MSC Musica, Explorer and Asuka from the peace Boat Cruise Line; Aida Cruise Line; Fred Olsen Lines, MSC Cruise Lines, Semester at Sea and Asuka Cruise of Japan, respectively.
Jaime Castillo, CEO of Sans Soucí Ports, elaborated that effective November, the MSC Cruise Line adds to its schedule greater capacity cruise ships, such as the MSC Musica, and increases its number of departures from the Port of Santo Domingo.
Castillo quoted new excursions to Trikke City Tour, the Shopping Experience, Taino Trail, AquaWorld, and Los Delfines Park.
“To strengthen the cruise tourist experience on land, we have also focused on promoting the best of Santo Domingo through a novelty Tour portfolio featuring more than twenty (20) specialized excursions, whose offer constitutes one of the most complete in the Caribbean”. The port executive added.
Castillo affirmed that these recent investments to revitalize the Colonial City, the new gastronomy and leisure offers taking place in this historical site, add points to the tourist experience of all those whom visit Santo Domingo as a cruise destination.
Upon the dockage of the Ocean Dream, the first cruise of the season, the traditional protocol ceremony was hosted, featuring the attendance of Captain Sotirios Papacharisiou, Jaime Castillo, and Sharon Mei, executives of Sans Soucí Ports; Luis Sánches and María Teresa Balino, of the Marítima Dominicana Agency.
This ceremony is tradition held with all 1st time docking vessels.
